Code of Conduct

The St. Louis Rebels are dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants. As such, we expect all attendees, including dancers, instructors, staff, and volunteers, to uphold the following code of conduct:

 

Respect Others
Treat all individuals with kindness, respect, and courtesy.


 

Be Inclusive
The St. Louis Rebels is an inclusive club and welcomes all participants, regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or ability.

 

 

Obtain Consent
Respect others' boundaries and obtain consent before engaging in any physical contact or dance. If someone declines or withdraws consent, respect their wishes. 


 

Communicate Effectively

Practice effective communication skills by listening attentively, expressing yourself clearly, and resolving conflicts in a respectful manner.


 

Keep the Venue Safe
Keep the venue clean, safe, and free of hazards. Report any safety concerns or incidents immediately to event staff or security. 


 

Take Responsibility
Take responsibility for your actions and behavior at all times. If you witness or experience any misconduct, report it to a board member or the front desk immediately. 

 

The St. Louis Rebels reserves the right to enforce this code of conduct at its discretion and to take appropriate action against any individuals who violate it. Violations include, but are not limited to:

 

  1. Inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome sexual attention

  2. Inappropriate hand placement during hip catches, shadow position, or any closed position

  3. Suggestive comments or innuendo, especially during a dance 

  4. Inappropriate and unsolicited texts, messages, calls, emails, or social media activity directed at another participant, even if not occurring at a Rebels event

  5. Teaching on the social dance floor

  6. Discrimination, harassment, or any behavior that causes others to feel uncomfortable or unsafe, even if not occurring at a Rebels event

  7. Demanding a dance from another, or otherwise not respecting
    their “No”

  8. Bringing food and/or drink onto the dance floor

  9. Holding your partner in a shadow position for an extended time (at the discretion of the follow)

  10. Bringing your partner into leveraged moves (dips, rides, drops, etc) without prior consent or practice

 

Failure to adhere to this code of conduct may result in removal from the event without refund. The Rebels reserves the right to enforce this code of conduct at its discretion and to take appropriate action against any individuals who violate it. Repeated violations can and will result in removal from the event without refund, revocation of Membership status without refund, being barred from future entry, and/or any other remedy deemed appropriate by the St. Louis Rebels Board of Directors. By attending a Rebels dance, you agree to abide by this code of conduct and help us create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all.

Just Dancing no longer has restrictions for vaccines or masks. Please exercise mask etiquette when dancing with a masked partner.  Thank you.
